CCTV Dome Cameras

Benefits of the CCTV Dome Camera

The dome camera is probably the most popular type of CCTV camera installed today. Due to its type and style of manufacture it can be either wall or celing mounted.

Unlike most cameras which are easily spotted, the dome camera leaves much more to the imagination, if noticed at all. An unsuspecting glass dome jutting from the ceiling is commonly tinted so the passer by cannot see the direction that the camera inside is viewing. The camera is then uplinked to the closed circuit system in place to provide continuous, anonymous vigilance.

Benefits of CCTV dome cameras include the reduction of crime. This is accomplished through two means: first, criminals who actually commit acts of vandalism or robbery are more easily apprehended by authorities if video of their act and identity exists. Second, experienced criminals will recognize the dome camera as a crime deterrent before committing crimes. In fact, not having a CCTV dome camera could increase chances of crime in businesses targeted by criminals seeking the path of least resistance.

But the CCTV dome camera is not just in place for the sole benefit of the business. Directly, the dome camera allows business patrons to shop in solitude. The few passerby who know the function of the dome camera will no doubt be unaffected by its presence, if of course their intentions are honest. Indirectly, the CCTV dome camera gives customers a financial boost. Reductions in crime for a business result in fewer damages caused by burglars and vandals, and a possibility exists of transferring those benefits to consumers.

Finally, it is good economic sense to install a CCTV dome camera. The lower prices that can be expected from business which are not bothered by vandalism and robbery costs allow said business to be more profitable and more competitive. Most businesses use electric cash registers today because they represent modern technology – and the same applies to CCTV dome cameras. By adopting new technologies, business can remain competitive.
